Member Spotlight | William Dugal

Published on October 27, 2026

This week’s 1911 Group Member Spotlight highlights William Dugal, MD, MS.

William played football for SMU from 2008 to 2013 while earning his B.S. in Biology in 2012 and his M.S. in Finance in 2013. That mix of medicine and business set the foundation for a career that bridges both worlds.

He went on to become a surgeon, caring for thousands of patients. After surviving a life-threatening illness himself, he also knows what it is like to be on the other side of the exam table.

Today William is the founder of White Coat Advocate, a physician-led patient advocacy service. He helps patients and families navigate complex medical decisions and plan for recovery. His goal is simple. Make healthcare easier to understand so people feel informed and supported at every step.

William is hoping to connect with fellow Mustangs in healthcare, business, and professional services who are interested in patient advocacy, healthcare navigation, and collaboration or referral partnerships.

If you or someone you love has ever left a doctor’s appointment with more questions than answers, William is the Mustang to call.
